Doug Deal

Doug rode his first wave at the age of 6. By 9 years old, he won his first contest. He has many outstanding victories in both amateur and professional contest including:
* 9 time Florida state champion/ shortboard and longboard
* 3 time East Coast finalist/shortboard and longboard
* 3rd in United States shortboard and longboard
* Finalist in Hang Ten Classics/ Florida and California
Doug has assisted in coaching top Menehune teams which included the like of 8 time world champ Kelly Slater, Sean Slater, Matt Kechele, Pat Mulhern, to name a few.
Leah Dawson (2006 and 2007 Town and Country Women’s Pipeline Pro Champion) had this to say:”Dougie not only taught me the fundamentals of surfing but showed me by example the style and grace of the sport as well.”
Besides spending summers traveling the east and west coasts surfing contests, he has traveled and surfed such places as Indonesia, Brazil, Central and South America, and throughout the Caribbean. However, every winter was spent on the North Shore of Oahu surfing Hawaii’s notorious big waves.
Doug resides on the North Shore with his wife of 23 years and daughter, Kalei’a. His wife and daughter share Doug’s passion for surfing and the ocean. Kalei’a is Doug’s star pupil and is quite the inspiration for all.

Doug is a fully licensed Surf Instructor. He is certified in the State of Hawaii as a lifeguard, with current First Aid, CPR, Big Wave Tow In and Ocean Rescue certifications.
